Project Description

Nájera and Rioja wine

Famous all over the world, Rioja wine deserves special attention in your stay in Pensión San Lorenzo.

Surrounded by vineyards, Nájera is located in Rioja Alta, one of the main viticulture areas. Wine is part of our culture and tradition; in fact, most of us have harvested grapes with our family since childhood.

If you come to Nájera, you will be in the centre of Rioja wine, so don’t miss the chance to try red, white and rosé wine in the restaurants and bars of the town.

It is the best way to enjoy La Rioja in body and soul

Furthermore, Nájera is 20 minutes far from other important cities related to wine such as Haro, where you can visit the winery neighbourhood, with some wineries which are more than 100 years old. On yor way, you can stop in the medieval village Briones and visit Vivanco, the famous winery and one of the largest wine museums in the world. Also in a 15-minute drive, you will find Logroño, capital of La Rioja, and well-known for its wine and the famous tapas street Calle Laurel.

If you aren’t still drunk of wineries, you can head for Rioja Alavesa, about 20 minutes from Nájera. There, a must-visit is one of architect Frank Gehry’s last creations. We are talking about Marqués de Riscal winery, which looks like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Moreover, if you love architecture as much as wine, you will marvel at Ysios Bodegas, designed by the Spanish Santiago Calatrava.
